![]() ![]() ![]() But maybe it's getting 'refreshed' and doesn't require a new FCC code so it's unnoticed at this moment as a pending new release. Makes me wonder why this deal and others exist since they're not clearing out the current 4k model. With a lower price, maybe their worldwide market target is those with non-4k TVs that don't plan on upgrading anytime soon? Can't see it costing much less for Google to manufacture. Seems very strange to launch a new lower-tech model of anything. So much for a higher end model coming out with more memory, etc. It'll be cheaper, smaller and only 1080 vs 4k. I was shocked to read that there is a new version coming out on Oct 6th, and it seems to be a lower-end version. So, this might be a liquidation in preparation for a new product launch. And use the voice remote to ask Google to. No more jumping between apps to decide what to watch. Google historically launches new product around October. Chromecast with Google TV brings you the entertainment that you love, in up to 4K HDR.1 Get personal recommendations based on your subscriptions, viewing history and content that you own all in one place. There have been rumblings of a new version since the beginning of the year. I plan to return this one to Walmart once it arrives and I connect it. I ordered a new one through HD which should come this week. ![]() But each time I do, Google home doesn't recognize it properly as TV device. I am able to get it going directly from the chromecast (there's an option to do it there). I see it, but it fails at the same point each time. I can't connect the chromecast through the Google home app. This is proving to be a real pain and a huge waste of time. I've had 2 Chromecast (1st and 2dn gen) and never had problem setting them up. When I do connect to wifi, it wants me to follow instructions in the app but the app doesn't see the Chromecast. When I unplug the Chromecast and try to connect it, unless I forget the network and re-enter the password, it doesn't want to connect to wifi. When I try to find the Chromecast in the app, it says it is not connected to wifi. I can use my tv remote with it, but when I was setting up the internet connection through my Google Home app, nothing ever happened, it just says follow the instrictions but there is nothing. I decided to get him the Chromecast Google TV and hook him up on my Plex, he would have a reliable remote and that would be the end of it, right? I've been trying to set up this piece of garbage for the past hour. I built him a nice little Kodi box with a computer I wasn't using anymore a couple of weeks ago, but the remote is a bid hurdle for him as he is not really Tek savy and he feels using a keyboard or the air mouse I got him is to complicated (and to make matters worse, the main button on the remote stops working after a time and out of nowhere starts working again.) ![]()
